Bringing evidence-based, safe, and effective skincare out of the clinic and into your hands, so you can love the skin you’re in!
As practicing specialists, we focus on personalised skincare and tailored treatment plans every day in our clinics. But we saw a gap—what about the people who don’t have access to a dermatologist? That’s why we created Ocellus—to bring the expert care we offer in person to a wider community, and to make evidence-based, effective skincare accessible beyond the clinic walls.
At Ocellus every prescription product is made-to-order, crafted to match your skin type, sensitivities, and concerns. Our mission? To bring evidence-based, safe, and effective skincare out of the clinic and into your hands, so you can love the skin you’re in!

Our motivation
At its heart, dermatology is about personalisation. Every day in clinic, we formulate solutions and tailor routines for real people with real concerns. But we wanted to do more than help one patient at a time.
In clinic, we’re often asked to evaluate long lists—or even bags—of skincare products. Patients will ask, “Is this one any good?” or, “What should I actually be using?” Many have spent hundreds of dollars trying to figure it out—often on products that aren’t suited to their skin, are poorly formulated, are simply not necessary, or worse – the very cause of the problem they’ve come to see us for. Some are overwhelmed. Others don’t know where to start—or even why they’re using a particular product in the first place.
While there are some great skincare options available, no single product is right for everyone. Too often, we see products that lack therapeutic strength, contain unnecessary irritants, or don’t address the actual concern.
Recognising these short-comings, both of us individually dreamt of developing a skincare brand that would be based on science, on evidence of benefit and of safety, in optimal combinations and concentrations, without the “nasties” to address specific skin issues and tolerances.
We wanted to empower and educate our patients—to help them understand not just what to use, but why.
We are both working mums with young families, with the desire to share the knowledge gained not only from our specialist dermatology training and experience, but also insights from our own skin journeys.
Through Ocellus, our goal is simple: to make expert, personalised skincare accessible beyond the clinic.

Our motivation
We created Ocellus to share the knowledge, experience, and results we offer in-office with a wider community—because great skin shouldn’t be limited to those who can see a dermatologist in person.
Every day, we see patients struggling with skin conditions made worse by the wrong products or overly complicated routines. Skincare isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it shouldn’t be. That’s why personalised care is at the heart of everything we do.
We also understand that the most effective ingredients—the ones that deliver real, lasting results—are often prescription-only. These are clinically proven actives, backed by rigorous research for both safety and efficacy. That sets them apart from most cosmetic-grade ingredients.
Through Ocellus we are proud to champion personalised, made-to-order prescription skincare that is safe, effective, and grounded in science. Every formula is compounded with the highest-quality ingredients, expertly designed to meet individual skin needs.
Our hope is to help not just the patients who walk into our clinic, but anyone seeking evidence-based, dermatologist-developed skincare that truly works.

Dr Kate Borchard, consultant dermatologist
Let’s face it—dermatologists have skin problems too! Sun damage, eczema, acne, melasma—I’ve had them all. Growing up on a farm, I spent endless hours outside and on horseback. In my first school photo, freckles sprinkled my nose—my dad called them “sun kisses.” By sixth grade, those freckles covered my face.
Now, I know the truth: that was sun damage. At just five years old, my skin was already showing the effects of chronic sun exposure.
Like so many of my patients, I wasn’t taught about sun protection early on. When the “Slip, Slop, Slap” campaign started in the ‘80s, sunscreen was thick, greasy, expensive—and hardly something we used. I didn’t start wearing it consistently until my late teens, when I entered medical school. My real understanding of sun damage came during my dermatology training.
Now, I’m continually working to manage and repair my own sun-damaged skin, particularly as I age—just like many of my patients.
People often ask me, “What do you use?” My honest answer? My own formulas.
As a dermatologist with sensitive, eczema-prone skin, I couldn’t find skincare that worked and didn’t irritate me. Creating products that met both needs became a journey—one filled with trial, error, and deeper understanding. I was often frustrated by the “but”: good ingredients—but not at effective concentrations, or in poor formulations, or mixed with unnecessary irritants. My own skincare journey shaped me as both a clinician and a formulator.
My passion? To bring that same personalised, evidence-based care I offer my patients—and use myself—to others. I believe our skin tells a story. We created Ocellus to help write a healthier one—one that’s informed, empowered, and uniquely personal.

Dr Su Lin Chan, consultant dermatologist
My skincare journey began with necessity. I’ve had eczema (atopic dermatitis) since early childhood, and I’ve always struggled with dry, sensitive, easily irritated skin. Daily moisturising and avoiding fragrances or harsh ingredients became second nature. For most of my life, I avoided “active” skincare altogether—my skin simply couldn’t tolerate it. In my youth, I was fortunate not to need those ingredients. Now, as my skin matures, I’m grateful to formulate products that meet its evolving needs, safely and effectively.
After completing my dermatology training in Western Australia and a fellowship in Mohs surgery, my interest in skin health deepened—particularly in managing chronic skin conditions and sun damage.
Growing up in a Chinese family, tanning was discouraged, and I learned early on about the aging and cancer risks of sun exposure. I’ve been lucky to avoid major sun damage myself, but I see its impact on my patients every day.
My passion lies in helping people feel confident and comfortable in their own skin—and ensuring that sensitive or reactive skin is never left behind in the skincare conversation.

Love the skin you’re in!
